Using Language Function in Secondary Level Students
Secondary level students are expected to demonstrate an increasing level of language mastery as they progress. This includes understanding the nuances of language, such as tone, voice, and inflection, as well as being able to effectively communicate ideas in both written and verbal forms.
In order to understand and use language effectively, secondary level students should be able to do the following:
- Understand the nuances of language, such as tone, voice, and inflection
- Formulate logical arguments and evaluate those made by others
- Understand and utilize both formal and informal language
- Recognize and use literary devices, such as metaphor and hyperbole
- Comprehend and interpret non-verbal communication
- Express ideas in both written and verbal forms
These language skills are essential for secondary level students to be successful in their studies and in the world outside of the classroom. With practice and guidance, students can hone their language skills and use them to their advantage.
