Drawing a diagram of a Financial Institution’s Infrastructure
Step 1: Define the Components of the System
The financial institution in this case study has three separate systems: a human resources system, a financial system, and a procurement system. These can be represented in the diagram as three distinct components. Additionally, the diagram should include middleware and p2p, which will be represented as two distinct components.
Step 2: Outline the Connections
Next, draw lines to represent the connections between the components. For example, the human resources system should be connected to the financial system and the procurement system. Additionally, the middleware should be connected to all three of these systems, while the p2p should be connected to the financial system and the procurement system.
Step 3: Add Labels to the Connections
Once the connections have been outlined, labels can be added to indicate the type of connection between the components. For example, the connections between the human resources system and the other two systems can be labeled as bi-directional data flows. The connections between the middleware and the three systems can be labeled as APIs, and the connections between the p2p and the two systems can be labeled as peer-to-peer connections.
Step 4: Add Annotations to the Diagram
Finally, annotations can be added to the diagram to provide additional information about the components or the connections. For example, annotations can be used to indicate which systems represent which type of data, such as financial or procurement. Additionally, annotations can be used to indicate which type of middleware or p technology is used.
