Teaching Kids To Meditate
Meditation is a great way to help kids relax and focus. Here are some tips to get started:
- Explain the basics of meditation. Explain that it involves sitting quietly and paying attention to your thoughts and feelings without judging them.
- Make meditation a part of their daily routine. Set aside a few minutes each day for your child to sit and meditate.
- Start with short sessions. Begin with just a few minutes and then gradually increase the time as they get more comfortable.
- Encourage them to sit in a comfortable position. This could be sitting in a chair, on the floor, or even lying down.
- Suggest that they focus on their breath. Encourage them to pay attention to the sensations of breathing in and out.
- Encourage them to bring awareness to their body. Suggest that they take note of any areas of tension, and then send those areas relaxation.
- Guide them through the practice. If they have trouble focusing, you can help by guiding them through the practice with your voice.
